Anne Truong is the Specialist Lighting Lead at WRAP Engineering, previously a Design Manager at Light Project, and Specialist Lighting Designer at Wood & Grieve Engineers.
Anne is driven by the desire to bring good lighting design practices to projects, balancing aesthetics and pragmatism to create engaging, long-lasting designs. She possesses a wealth of experience across sectors including commercial, education, public spaces, retail, hotel and infrastructure. Some of her previous notable projects include Melbourne’s White Night, Grattan Gardens, Penguin Parade Phillip Island, Melbourne Town Hall façade, Melbourne Zoo, West Side Place, Adina Brisbane, Jackalope Hotel Mornington Peninsula, and Novotel Hawthorn.
Anne is interested in balancing subtle psychology and strategy in her lighting design process, using light as a tool to create ambience and maximise occupant engagement. Her eclectic mix of technical and artistic background gives her a unique approach to the application of lighting design, with the occupant’s experience her primary focus. She is a strong advocate for implementing lighting practices which benefit the user and wildlife.
Having worked in both consulting and supply, Anne has a solid understanding of project delivery and procurement. She implements strategies early in the design phase to manage the design, budget, delivery and maintenance of projects.
Anne is an associate member of the International Association of Lighting Designers, and committee member for the Illuminating Engineers Society (Victoria/Tasmania chapter) (previously, she was president). She has been a member of Toastmasters International for six years, a guest lecturer for Collarts’s Bachelor of Interior Design lighting classes, and is a huge fan of new developing technologies.
